By accessing and using Thetapad, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
2. Description of Service
Thetapad is an open-source LaTeX editor that runs in your browser. The service includes:
- LaTeX document editing with syntax highlighting
- PDF compilation and preview
- Local storage of documents in your browser
- Optional GitHub integration for version control
- Optional cloud sync (when signed in)
3. User Accounts
You may use Thetapad without an account. When you create an account:
- You must provide accurate information
- You are responsible for maintaining account security
- You must be at least 13 years old
- One person may not maintain multiple accounts
4. User Content
You retain full ownership of all content you create using Thetapad. We do not claim any rights to your documents, projects, or other materials.
You are solely responsible for your content and must ensure it does not:
- Violate any applicable laws or regulations
- Infringe on intellectual property rights
- Contain malware or malicious code
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the service
- Use the service to distribute spam or malware
- Interfere with the service's operation or other users
- Circumvent rate limits or security measures
- Use automated systems to access the service excessively
6. Service Availability
We strive to provide reliable service but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The service may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance, updates, or due to circumstances beyond our control.
Important: Since documents are stored locally in your browser, you are responsible for backing up your work. We recommend using GitHub sync or regular exports for important documents.
7. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THETAPAD IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.
We are not liable for:
- Loss of data or documents
- Service interruptions or downtime
- Errors in LaTeX compilation
- Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
8. Open Source License
Thetapad is open source software. The source code is available under its respective license, which you can find in our GitHub repository. These Terms of Service apply to the hosted service at thetapad.com.
9. Termination
You may stop using the service at any time. You can delete your account through the settings page, which will remove your account data from our servers.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or engage in abusive behavior.
10. Changes to Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms. Significant changes will be announced via the application.
11. Governing Law
These terms are governed by applicable law. Any disputes shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation first.
